If all goes according to plan we hope to return to Maine, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and also sail to Labrador, in 2012. If you are interested in photos of these areas check for the link to the new blog in the spring --- We will post it on this blog.
Thanks for your interest and best wishes to everyone.
THIS IS THE STORY OF "EVERGREEN" AND HER CREW, WHILE THEY SAIL NORTH TO THE CANADIAN MARITIMES, AND THEN RETURN TO THE COAST OF MAINE, DURING THE SUMMER OF 2011.

This is the end of the 2011 sailing season for Evergreen and her crew. We hope you have enjoyed the photos taken while we cruised the Nova Scotia and Maine coasts. Hopefully, you have gained some insight into the alternative lifestyle that we enjoy. Evergreen will now be stored "on the hard" during the winter and many maintenance and upgrade projects will be completed. We encourage you to once again join us next season when we attempt to travel to Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, a small part of Labrador. Have a great holiday season.

Boothbay - One Last Time

We could not resist returning to Boothbay, one last time, before the place essentially closed down for the season. Here are some images from our last visit:
Sail Away
Sunday, October 9th, 2011
As we cross Penobscott Bay, we pass another classic vessel ghosting along while they wait for the wind to fill in.
The long day results in a beautiful sunset sail.
Penobscott Bay
Saturday, October 8th, 2011
As we sail down west Penobscott Bay, we see a lone windjammer still plying the waters.
As a special treat we decide to stop for the night as our favorite Maine anchorage, the White Islands.
One is seldom disappointed by the sunsets at the White Islands.
You say which way? Heck, I'm going this way.
Westward Bound
Friday, October 7th, 2011
Sadly, it is time to start the long journey home. We turn westward and head out past Bass Head Harbor Light for the last time this season.

At the northwest end of Eggemoggin Reach we view the sun setting behind Pumpkin Island Light and the hills of Camden.
Mt. Desert Island

The Island Explorer bus service was still running so we took a trip to Bar Harbor.
After the tide went out we crossed the bar in order to explore the island across from Bar Harbor. The 35 knot winds nearly blew us off the bar.

This lobster boat had to be dried out between tides so that the prop could be changed.
