An Invitation

We enjoy sharing our lifestyle with our family, friends, and others. So COME ON OUT and "let's get on with it". You only have an opportunity to live once. For those of you who do not choose to get away, feel free to travel vicariously via this blog. P.S.: Note that you can enlarge photos by clicking on them. You can click on the "Spot" link to see where we are (click on "satellite" tab to get a photo of the area) (takes a while to load). You can also use the weather links to find out what we are experiencing. You will find only one post per page --- access earlier posts via the archive. Enjoy.

Canada Day - Images From Canso, Nova Scotia

Friday, July 1st, 2011

Canada Day is Canada's birthday (always on July 1st).

As of July 1st, lobster season is over and everyone has all their pots in.

The combination of Stanfest and Canada Day results in family and friend reunions everywhere.  It seems that every group has as least one or two musicians who enliven the parties.

Spring flowers are everywhere.  These are Lupine.

Now that the small Canso marine is packed to the gills, cruisers attending Stanfest are filling the anchorage.

Every coastal town in the Canadian Maritimes has at least one church overlooking the town and harbor.

Take note of the old iron cross (seen behind the wooden ones).  It seems that in days gone by, crosses were often made of steel (possibly due to the lack of suitable grave marker material).

Both the marina and its parking lot are packed with people from away, who are here for the Stanfest folk festival.

Canso hospitality at its best.

Father & Son:  "I've gotten all my pots in --- how is your festival coffee business doing?"

Coming in for the holiday weekend.

No need to say more.
